Football recruits
I am going to try to keep track of SDSU football recruits in general and Southeast South Dakota recruits both 08 and 09 recruits right now I am keeping my eye on

Riley Reiff who is verballed to Nebraska but I'm not sure on it
Logan Tycz word was that USD has him on his list but when I talked to him he said he hasn't talked to anybody and plans on sending out film on him soon
Marc Sayler I put him in the same boat as Jake Steffen they are similar type players he is a D-I talent but it will take a position change and work... right now he is a NAIA quarterback something that he likes
Tyrell Kool.... I was told he had verballed to NDSU but now I am hearing reports that it may be SDSU not sure he has a team mate that is also being recruited by the XDSU's but I can't think of his name right now

Earv Archambau-- Fast, tough and good.... I heard that the SDSU coaches were in town I would assume to talk to him I emailed him and am awaiting a return... will try to keep an update on his situatino
Matt Dykstra-- Teammate to Earv... he is a 6-5 strong frame but still could use 20-50 pounds... His coach who has coached some good players said he is the toughest player he has every coached.... Would be compared to Riley Reiff but not as strong....

Guys I know there are a few of you that read this or maybe its just me when I am tired and think I am somebody else but if you know anything post it it can be a rumor I like those I will research to see if it is true I know most of these guys personally and am good friends with a few of them so I will try to keep up with it

2 Ethanol Giants merge

As most of you probably know Verasun acquired US bioenergy in a stock transfer... What does that mean? It means that Verasun will not buy out the shares then issue new ones they will just transfer since us bioenergy (usbe) was trading at about 70% of Verasun (VSE) they decided on 81% transfer it means that if you have 1000 shares of USBE you now have 810 shares of Verasun but all in all its a good move for them.... By 2009 all there plants will be finished and they will be able to ship ethanol out faster then most plants will be able to produce it.... In the next 6 fiscal quarters I would expect a lot of acquisitions by the "Big Three" in Poet, ADM, and The New Verasun.... Personally I like this move or maybe its because my shares of USBE are now VSE and are going up fast..... Wouldn't be surprised if this stock skyrocketed to 30-50 dollars with usual dividends in 2-5 years....

Clarify some things

I would just like to clarify somethings up and then add some D-League news and sioux falls collesium news.

I would like to clarify that I do not hate Jordan Miller or Cody Larson.... I just don't know how people can say that Jordan Miller is so important to his team when there are a lot of others that are more important. I also think it is hard to grade a kid who hasn't performed on the court yet. I do think that he will make a great college player I just don't know if he is up to SDSU's caliber or if he is a need for SDSU.... As far as Larson I think Larson will be a great player but lets be honest just because he is rated as a sophomore it doesn't mean that he is a lock as a top tier D-I recruit. I do think however barring something happening in the form of an injury, or him getting in trouble he will become a top tier D-I recruit.

News coming from the Dleague is that the Timberwolves are really considering sending down Chris Richard and that they are leaning to send Randy Foye on a rehab stint there for a week or 2 to get his legs under him before him going back with the Wolves when he is ready.

The Collesium (I still can't spell it) I like anybody with a brain thinks that Sioux falls needs something but guys a 150 million dollar Dome? lets be real Rapid City is building a 5800 seat arena with sky boxes for under 30 and they are going to build something that cost 5 times that. I have proposed that Sioux Falls do one of 2 things the one is on a previous post the other is do what this collesium is doing and put it as part of the whole events center area but size it down put a 14,000 basketball arena room for office space and other convention center needs. I do think that Howard Wood needs to say good bye... (how many football stadiums do you need in that town)

Anything and everything

On a request to update this I decided it actually does need to be updated

So a run down
First of all SDSU's basketball teams have opened up the seaon.
The women are 2 and 0 winning 2 close games against teams that made the post season last year. The team seems to be hampered by foot injuries the question was asked is it because of the shoe maker?

My response to that is I have never disliked a shoe company all shoes are good shoes but all feet are different some kids like a little bit heavier shoe with more support some like the lightest one possible and don't care about support so I personally don't like team shoes though they do look cool.

The Men's team won a game against Mary last night... The question is why do they look flat as can be? My answer its a monday its a holiday some don't like that but its true if you ask basketball players and AD's for that matter I would bet they say they would prefer to avoid monday games. The team however did show some bright spots Callahan showed some signs that he is fully healthy, Cordova showed that he is a D-I talent, Beran played good, the guards played alright though they have a lot more potential then that. I look for this team to remind me of North Carolina 2 years ago a team that can go out and beat anybody(to a certain point) any night and could loose to a NAIA team the following night.

The mens team will sign 2 tommaro.
James Rader from colorado I will try to talk to a basketball player from Colorado to see how good he really is.
the other will be a JuCo from everything I have heard I believe (educated guess) that it will be Anthony Davis a guy from Iowa who commited to UNI out of hs but apparently got into a little trouble and ended up playing JuCo ball in Southwest Iowa I beleive. Hes 6-8 and seems to be doing alright there.

The women will sign 3
Vennesa Johnson from West Central i talked to my buddy from West Central and he said that she is a work horse a gym rat not the most athletic player but a smart one hasn't had the best coaching and thinks that college coaching could make her a really good college player. that goes contray to my other friend from my high school that played against her and she said that she was selling herself short going to sdsu... both comments make it sound like SDSU got a winner in her though
Caila Westergard from Charles City was a high recruit Big 10 Big 12 until a knee injury seems to be fully healthy now and is viewed as a steel by many high school coaches
Jennifer Sunnarborg Osseo MN, shes a 6-1 post that averaged just under 10 points as a junior.

Skyforce and Dleague
The Skyforce are now under coach Nate Tibbits seem to have a daunting task, this year they will have to do it with out the Pistons sending down Amir Johnson, and most likely the force won't see too many assignees as the 2 parents teams are both very young (charlette, minnesota) other teams this year seem to be utilizing it to greatness as the Warriors plan on sending 2 down, the Spurs plan on sending 2 guys down, Utah has sent 1 and plans on sending another, the Rockets, Bucks and Celtics have all sent down a guy already.... Looks like the use of it is becoming used.

Rapid City and hockey franchise
I still think in the long run that bringing the CHL compared to the USHL was a mistake but apparently they have sold a ton of season tickets... i don't know if that is true but I hope it is. I also hope the dleague decides to put a franchise there also.

Other tidbits... my knees hurt they have hurt and swelled up since it got cold on Friday does that mean I am getting old?

I hope more then just 1 or 2 people read this by the way...
Some websites I like
www.oursportscentral.com/boards website has news updates on minor league sports and the boards have all sorts of minor league sports I highly recomend
www.hoopshype.com any basketball rumor from any paper it organizes them and everything... also on the top has a salary part it shows each teams salary and how long there contracts exist

Sioux Falls NEEDS a new arena

After the Summit League came to Sioux Falls one thing was a negative and that was the Arena, though the arena houses some of the best ran minor league teams it will be tuff for a D-I basketball conference to host there basketball tournament there. So what should Sioux Falls do? Should they do what Rapid City is doing and build a small arena that is part of the same complex? If it was up to me I would build a 12,000 seat multi purpose arena on the West side of town build around it so there is proper parking and access routs 2 and from the arena. 12,000 would allow for the city to hot events like this and to be prepared for the growth of Sioux Falls... If Sioux Falls keeps growing I see it quite possible that the Storm could become an AFL team if they decide to expand. Also I would like to invite everybody to Czech Days in Tabor, South Dakota ( June 14,15,16) Thursday it starts with the Tabor Legion playing against Chadron Nebraska then Freeman vs. Chadron and then the Tabor Bluebirds vs. Freeman Black Sox with fireworks to follow. The carnival will also start thursday night. There will be other activities in town on Friday and Saturday... If anybody has questions email me at josephjvoigt@st.bhsu.edu ...Hope to see you all there

CHL vs. USHL and other R.C. facts

The CHL is AA profesional hockey the mast majority of the cities are in the southern United States with 2 franchises being in Colorado. The average franchise cost is 2 million per year and around 90 games a year. The USHL is the top junior hockey division has 12 teams that are all in the midwest (4 in IA, 3 in NE) average cost is 1 million per year and on tallent is believed to be better. The USHL plays around 70-75 games per year.

Heres what I know and have found out about Rapid City. It of course has Mount Rushmore just down the road and is home to around 60,000 residents. The CBA Rapid City Thrillers led the CBA in attendence in the early 90's and produced future NBA coaches Flip Saunders and Eric Mussleman. Pat Hall who was majority owner moved the team to Florida because of a better venue deal however the team folded in 2 years. The Rapid City Posse/Thrillers and Gold all played in the Civic Center over the next couple of years but never drew well. Basketball hasn't been in Rapid for atleast 5 years. The R.C. Machine of the IFL came to town in 2000 were prety good later went onto the NIFL and then to the UIF as the Red Dawgs after poor attendence the Red Dawgs lay dormit as they still hold UIF franchise rights. The R.C. Aces came to town with the NIFL and were succesful on the field but an embeseling owner just about cost them the season as Pat Hall, Less Cook, Don McElray, and Scott Martin had to take over the franchise. Lack of funds cost them the 2007 team. Hopefully the Aces will come out of disfunt and play in the UIF next season. The Civic Center Don Barnett Arena holds 8,000ish needs north end courtside seats and could use some general cosmetic work. 4 new Jumbo screens are in each corner of the Arena. The new Civic Center Arena being constructed as we speak will have an ice ring and will hold 5,000 for hockey and 5,700 for basketball and is equipt with skyboxes. Rapid City Civic Center needs tenants and minor league sports are best.

Rapid City makes rapid WRONG decision

Rapid City today anounced that they will begin contract negotitations with the CHL citing local ownership as the reason. My opinion is that if they would of waited for the USHL ownership group to be formed that the wait would be worth it. R.C. needs to learn that even good ownership can be bad when a bad league comes to town. When the CBA Thrillers left town the IBL came to town and had mulipal franchises in town those franchises and how bad they performed is what is keeping the DLeague from coming to town in my opinion. The Civic Center in my opinion needs to justify the addition of a new arena by more then AA hockey team though. They should talk to the Dleague and the UIF... I challenge anybody that wants to own a franchise in either sport. I wll buy season tickets to either one. Pat Hall who was the majority owner of the CBA Thrillers and the Majority owner of the disfunct Flying Aces should be talked to also George Jenter who owns franchise rights to the UIF should also be talked to. Rapid City has an arena that is 10 times better the SF and can't support crap for minor league sports. There is nothing to do in Rapid like there is in Sioux Falls. I will continue to research what it will take but I challenge any body with a little money and the will and determination to own either a dleague or uif team to bring one to Rapid City. Also if the CHL deal falls through the USHL should come to town imidiatly. SF, SC, Omaha, Kearny, Lincoln, 3 other IA teams all prety close compared to Coloardo and Texas.

SDSU vs. USD whats to make of it?

Coming home from work I was listening to In the Zone on 1570 and they had Terry V. on there and Jeff asked him whats SDSU's take on renewing the rivalry and Terry made a commit and it prety much said SDSU doesn't want to play USD any time soon. Jeff said that if they played the game in Sioux Falls slapped on a corperted sponser that it would make money and Terry responded and I believe he is right when he said SDSU averaged 9,000 at home and over 15,000 on hobo days if SDSU goes to USD they would in sence be loosing money and its a loose loose situation.

My take on the situation is if USD wants to make the trip up to SDSU for football or basketball I am game but if they expect SDSU to play USD on a nuetral floor they are nuts. SDSU has done all the right steps in transition and if they play USD its a loose loose situation.

MIsc. Sports

I would like to first congratulate the Stampede on winning the USHL, I would also like to say that I am supporting the USHL in Rapid City. Second of all I would like to say that I am upset with hearing that Keloland will not be able to broadcast the SDSU games next year like previously thought, I am hoping that Mid-Con communications will add the American Channel and that the Summit League will allow for free web-cast of all the conference games. Third I would like to challenge Sioux Falls to build a new arena, I was at the Convention center the other day and you can hardly tell that its an arena from outside, when you go to rapid you can tell where the arena is. I am publically supporting an arena, theater, offices and a large meeting room. Sanford and Poet Energy would be two Sioux Falls based companies that would be interested in putting up big bucks for naming rights. The offices could house the Storm and Stampede. I would then ask the Skyforce if they would like to have the Arena to themselves, keep the lease agreement the same and allow the Skyforce to make it more of there own. If the Skyforce accepts it you keep the arena if they would like to be moved the the new arena at a higher rate you can renovate the arena to better suite the convention center.

The arena I would like would sit 10-12,000 would have plenty of floor space for hockey and arena football, would also have skybox suites. The reason for that is with the success that Sioux Falls is having with the Storm I would not be surprised if the AFL showed interest in Sioux Falls if an Arena was built that suited an AFL team.

2 local summer club teams participate in Howard Pulley Basketball Tournament

First of all I would like to say that I passed my drug test and will start work tommaro and will be coaching the local legion baseball team so post may be a little bit slower. If you have any questions emal me at josephjvoigt@st.bhsu.edu

The Dakota Schoolers Gold and South Dakota Heat performed in Bloomington Minnesota this past weekend at the Sabes Howard Pulley tournament. The tournament is non sanctioned meaning that college affilitated coaches can not recruit durring the tournament.

Both teams made the final 8 I don't have any stats or numbers on the schoolers yet but will update when the are posted on their website.

The heat were led by Louie Krogman who was named to the all tournament team averaging 17.4 ppg. He joined a Wisconsin recruit and another kid who has recieved offers from Kansas and Missouri.
From what I have heard they beat a Chicago based team that was a favored and Schilling, Iverson and Vlastuin all did well in the tournament also.

Congrats to Louie the Heat and the Schoolers on a well played tournament.

I will update the personal stats from both teams when they are updated to there respected websites.

Major League Baseball

Again I know this is not SD sports but right now SD sports are a little quiet and MLB is starting to heat up. You may or maynot know that I am a Minnesota Twins fan, and that Left Fielder Jason Kubel was born in Belle Fourche SD and has family in the Bon Homme area. Minnesota of course has the AL MVP who got out of a slump last night blasting 2 bombs, also Torii Hunter has a 22 game hitting streak. Joe Mauer is on the DL but not to worry because Michael Redmond is a great backup. The Cubs a team I also like looks like they have gotton out of there slow start and start to hit the ball hard. The Cubs have a lefty in Hill that has a curveball that resembles Zito's also have one hell of an offensive lineup. If there defense and pitching can stay with them they will become a contener. Josh Hamilton has shown up as the feel good story of 07, drafted #1 by the Devil Rays out of high school Hamilton was kicked out of baseball for continuous drug use. I watched the Outside the Lines and HBO sports episode about Hamliton it said that he is now married and his family makes shure he doesn't screw up, he was re-enstated last year but had season ending knee surgury and both thought he may become a 5th outfielder late in his career, best case sonario. Hamilton was a rule 5 draft pick by the cubs and traded to the Reds, he is starting and has hit 8 HR this season while playing good defense. This is a guy that took 5 years off of baseball and played A ball for alil more then a month last year and now is hitting major league pitching like a seasonal veteran.

Gorilla Project??

I know this is a sports blog but when something this secret and big is brought into south dakota I have to write about it. What is known about the Gorilla project? From the Argus Leader, RC Journal and SC Pioneer I have found out not much is known, it could create 2,000 jobs and could use 5,000 acres which is roughly 8 sq miles. It would also use 12 million gallons a day for cooling purposes. The main 3 I have heard is a
Toyota or Hyundi automotive plant, this would make some sence the fact that both companies are expanding in the United States and have expressed interest in plants in the midwest. Sioux City and Sioux Falls are not too far away for higher positions to live and there are many small towns in the area where blue collar employees could live. The parts that don't get me is 12 million gallons of water I have heard different reasons that it would use that much but the CR building in Springfield had a device where is reused there own water and I would expect that a company like Toyota or Hyundi would also utilize that kind of technology.

Nuclear Plant, I have heard the possibility of a Nuke plant being put up in Union County for years when I went to a Wind Energy seminar in December the speaker from one of the companies said that they support Nuclear Energy and are proposing it in numerous places in the midwest. Also the Argus had an article about a feasibility study being done in south dakota though it was believed to be seperate. Again the water issue, the water used to cool a Nuke plant becomes really hott and generally 2 hot to put right back into the river.

Oil Refinory, This makes alot of sence with the pipeline already going through there and another one being proposed you begin to wonder also with the fact that in the 4 state area billions of gallons of ethanol are produced and a refinery could blend it very cheap.

I have also heard Hog Farm... 8 sq miles of Hogs in South Dakota will never fly if you smell it or not.

My opinion on this is mixed. I have been to Elk Point and know many people from Elk Point and know that it is alot like Tyndall a small town that you have grown to like and though you would like to see it grow you don't want it to loose its small town image. A 2,000 job employer could be great for South Dakotas economy and would affect Sioux Falls and Sioux City more then they can imangine. So again I have to say I'm not exacually for it nor am I against it I hope it happens but am optomistic and am not going to be upset if it doesn't happen.

SDSU Track and Field

As you may or may not know Freshman Michelle Schuch has qualified for USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field in the Discuss. Michelle graduated high school with me, I also had another friend whos sister ran track at SDSU a few years ago. When I talked to Schuch she says SDSU needs to build an outdoor track I am on the record for being against this but have thought this over and now believe that a Track and Field complex should be built on campus. I am not familier with campus because I don't attend SDSU but Schuch and another one of my friends said that there is room behind the football field for a nice Track and Field complex to be built. The main reason I have changed my mind is because Track and Field is a sport that South Dakota produces there fair share of athletes and is a sport where other then a few TOP schools everybody is on an equal plain when it comes to recruiting and a complex would only help State. Also Track and Field is for both Men and Woman.

Northern State University, How Big is it??

I decided to post about this after my roomate and another guy got in a fight about exacually how big of a sports college is NSU. I have done research and have found some interesting facts. NSU is the only school in the NSIC to offer all 16 sports. Northern is the 4th biggest state univeristy behind SDSU, USD and BHSU. There football team gained the most attention when Gerry Glanville was announced to be one of the final 3 of coaches but later decided Hawaii might be a better place to coach. They only offer 24 scholarships for football but do play on a 6,000 seat 2 year old stadium that has artificial turf. There basketball team has been good but not great in the past years. Their roster is prety local with the majority of the kids coming from SD, ND or MN....

So exacully how big is NSU??? That is a really tough question to answer, there college isn't that big besides basketball there sports teams arnt that big however they do play on a 6,000 seat football stadium which is prolly the nicest outdoor stadium in South Dakota, and an 8,000 seat basketball arena which besides the dome is prolly the biggest basketball arena in the state.

Recruiting South Dakota Students

After writing the STM/SES post I realized that I should write an entry about the problems with open enrollment and recruiting in south dakota, as many of you may know I come from Tyndall, SD which lost around 10 kids in high school to Avon including good friends.... Heres what I have came up with..

Avon is looked at as just recruiting athletes because they went to the dome 4 years in a row.. that statement is unjust because the majority of there athletes do live and are from avon a few have came over but most havn't. 2nd Avon is a small town and small school and with how money is given out Avon recruits all students if you fail in Wagner or Lake Andes they send you a packet... In that packet they send you 2 calculaters, a schedule, phone numbers to various teachers and administration and a personal letter.. I know I recieved one (my mom asked for them too). As far as giving incentives most kids the chance of winning state is enough, others like smaller classrooms and some just want to get out of bad situations. Other schools have recieved recruiting names such as Chester, from what I understand Chester started when the Kruetzfelts moved between Madison and Chester there oldest was in high school and there youngest was maybe a kindegardner they decided that yes Chester would be a better fit, the Kruetzfelts who were well liked and factored with problems at Madison prompted others to follow as far as my knowledge on the situation no actual recruitng when on though people still are upset over it.

Argus article about open enrollment in sports a year ago.... this article was written by Stew Whitney and was horrible it sold kids out to sound like idiots he interviewed Terry Balvin who I have known for many years for over an hour and all he got out of it was "we have taken are grocery shopping out of Tyndall" and other stuff that anybody in the county could of said... They went and interviewed Bon Homme's principal but no students if students would of been interviewed most would of said this "I didn't support it nor did I like it but I understood it" Stu also commited on select players from Ogorman recieved tuition reduction for small jobs...
They say this happens all the time with non boarding private schools though I will disagree I have never heard any problems with Dakota Christian a school located between Corsica, Armour, Geddes and Platte... and all of those schools have produced good athletes and have had kids transfer from place to place and time to time and nobody cares.... maybe we should all take a page out of that areas book. when ringling transfered from Platte to Geddes the Platte kids still supported him and so did the community they knew it was best for him.
Open enrollment will always leave a sour taste in my mouth but I will always say that it is a good thing to have... why punish a kid? but then again why punish a school?

Saint Thomas More

It has happend an actual investigation is being done into the recruiting that STM does... An article in the Rapid City Journal states alot... According to the article written by Kevin Woster all this started when Saint Elizabeth Setan (STM's grade and middle school) was not allowed to compete in a track meet, parents threw a fit and then all of this started.

My opinion on STM is that there is a reason they are good, they recruit plain and simple, but until Stevens or Central has a decent sports team I'm not going to blame them for doing it.... The problem with STM is how they act. I know members of that school as in I burned 8 of there 8th graders a copy of 300.... Most of the kids are sons of doctors, lawyers, or successful buisnessmen and Most of them say that yes recruiting does go on, is it big and bad as people make it out to be no, but they do say this if your not an athlete they don't do the whole college walk through like they do with there athletes, and though the school might not give you a scholarship directly there is ways around that (other parents, past graduates, boosters)... sounds like college to me.... STM will have 2 former members of Centrals basketball team playing for the Cavaliers next season..

Also I had heard that STM has sold there school to the Hospital and will be relocating to the old nun sanctuary. I don't know exacually where this is located and don't know how this will effect recruiting...

As far as not allowing a junior high team to compete isn't right if they were already invited but is understandable you don't want STM getting a good look at your young athletes...

Now by saying all of this I don't want to be attacking students of STM though i am attacking coaches and administration, first of all coach Hollenbek does nothing but coach a basketball team... How many of those are left in the state of south dakota? second of all how many schools drive 5 hours to recruit 1 basketball team and take 5 players and 3 assistant coaches with? However I have family that attends STM I guided my cousin and his friend out here at Black Hills State University durring History Day and helped them with some questions.... one group made it to nationals!!! (Rapid City Flood)

SDSU Hoops

Basketball at Brookings is coming off its worst season. A young team got younger as players quit, got kicked off, and graduated. It has been rumored the Matt Cadwell plans on leaving though no official announcement has came. Coach Nagy decided to do whats best and start recruiting kids and he did. Nagy will have new assistant coaches next year as his full-time assistant was relieved of his duties and both of his grad assistants graduated though Cuttingham has been hired to fill one of his full-time assistant jobs SDSU will be adding another full time assistant to meat Mid-Con standards.
PG from California
SF from Colorado
PG/2G from South Dakota
2G/SF from Iowa

Nagy returns what looks to be the best on and off the court player in Kai Williams a kid from Canada that has came in and worked hard. Kai will be in a place to become a leader and I believe he will become a great one. Nagy also returns Garret Callahan a kid from Nagy's home state of Illinois that came in and ran the point well for the Jacks... Others returning will be Blake Yackley a good perimeter shooter showed signs of coming out but never could do it consistently, Thomas Basset a strong kid though undersized that played well at times but struggled from the line. Mark Engen a kid that really played well towards the end of the season, also returning would be Anthony Cordova the kid had to sit out last year due to academic reasons but look for him to come in and play strong minutes for the Jacks next year.

The Jacks will be entering a conference and play actual games at Frost I expect all SDSU students to attend as many games as possible I am not one but will try to catch 1 or 2... SDSU will be better next year and if they land Colton Iverson in 08 could really become something look for SDSU to be right up there in 08 fighting for the NCAA tournament bid.

South Dakota High School Basketball

During the off season is where high school players become college talent, this upcoming summer season is no different. Right now we have 2 upcoming juniors from madison that have already verbally committed to SDSU, playing for the Dakota Schoolers. South Dakota has Colton Iverson who has an offer on the table from SDSU playing for the heat.

Dakota Schoolers Gold: This year the Schoolers went with less known names all players except for the two from madison played prep ball in the AA ranks... This years schoolers team is probably the least name known in the history of the program though I believe that is a good thing. The schoolers can work together and become something and make college players out of these kids. Coach Mueller is a great coach and will have these kids working hard and I could see a mass improvement among the entire team.

Dakota Schoolers Blue: The Dakota Schooler Blue team returns a few players from a year ago. Matt Dykstra a kid I saw alot of last year will be one of those kids returning. Dykstra who played great as a center will probably play some 3 but mostly 4 he is a strong kid that could become a high college tallent if he grew 2 inches. Another notable joining the team would be David Maxwell, Maxwell played every position for the Trojans the past year from 1 to 5 very versatile will probably see most of his time at the 3 though.. The schoolers blue team features a lot of B or low A school kids this team could produce some great kids but also could produce some duds.

South Dakota Heat: The heat are ran by one of my favorite coaches in lance friesan, they have 4 big name kids. Colton Iverson 6-10 center from Yankton leads the way, has an offer on the table from SDSU and NDSU and if he plays successfully over the summer could prompt offers from big 10 and big 12 schools. Colton needs to continue to get stronger and if he can do that he will be a dominite force in the college ranks. As far as schools I heard SDSU has took the lead after they were snowed out from going to Fargo for the SDSU/NDSU and the fact that Tim Miles volted to CSU.. However CSU as well as others could over take them.. Next would be Cody Schilling Cody had an injury plagued summer last year and hopes to play injury free this summer. Cody has obtained offers from SDSU, NDSU and reportedly Nevada as well as others. If Cody has a good summer look for him to be playing at a big name/conference school. Next on the list would be Louie Krogman, everybody knows Louie the kid that put 50 up at state averaged 30.5 over the season, 2nd career points and soon to be 1st. Louie had an offer from SDSU but waited 2 long and SDSU pulled it in favor of the 07 and 09 class.. I have heard numerous rumors from Louie, I've heard he wants to go to SDSU and if it means walking on red-shirting and obtaining a scholarship later that could be a possibility. I've also heard JuCo, or possibly BHSU for a year then taking a look at his options. BHSU probably a stretch but Coach Marshall did play his collegiant ball as a YellowJacket... Last would be Jared Vlastuin, Jared impressed me more then any other player this year, he is 6-6ish 160pounds soking wet but played like he was 220... jumps higher and quicker then anybody I saw, out played Kyle Doerr at state when he gave up close to 50 pounds... Jared's as an offer from Augie right now but if he gains some weight and with the other 3 mentioned playing beside him this summer I wouldn't be surprised if Jared gets D-I attention, not every day do you get a kid that can jump above the box on the back board, and can go out and hit that 10 footer.

Others that are not playing ball this summer or that I don't know about... 2 main ones come to mind. Keith Cutler fromp Platte, from what I understood he had an offer from the schoolers as well as the heat but Keith is an athlete and a great baseball player, his dad played at sdsu and his dad coaches his teener team. Another is Jordan Boots Jordan last year played with the schoolers but is not this upcoming summer, I heard he wasn't well liked by quite a few players but I don't know why he isn't playing just speculating if I hear anything about it I will post it.
